The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education institutions. It encourages students and faculty to work on innovative ideas and start-ups through regular activities, workshops, and mentoring sessions. IIC aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by promoting creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Vision - To foster a dynamic ecosystem that nurtures innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, and creativity among students and faculty, facilitating the incubation and growth of innovative ideas into impactful ventures. We aim to create a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, fostering sustainable growth and development through cutting-edge learning and innovation practices.
Mission - To cultivate an environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and entrepreneurial competencies, empowering students to turn their innovative ideas into viable start-ups. By providing access to state-of-the-art facilities, mentorship from industry leaders, and resources such as drone technology, digital media innovation, and sustainable practices through initiatives like 'Green Village' and 'Dronescape,' we aim to inspire societal progress and economic growth. The university’s recent focus on digital inclusion, professional development, and environmental preservation will continue to play a pivotal role in this transformation.
IIC was established at AAFT University of Media and Arts three years ago with the aim of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship among students of media and arts. Over the past three years, numerous sessions on innovation, intellectual property rights (IPRs), and entrepreneurship have been conducted. These included workshops, student-led activities, and various celebratory events.
During this period, several students began working on copyrights, business models and start-ups, which was a commendable achievement. The university has also seen significant developments, including the establishment of fab labs, collaboration with industry experts, and partnerships proposals for start-up incubation. These initiatives have further strengthened the student’s entrepreneurial mind-set and creative potential.
The IIC at AAFT University of Media and Arts remains diverse and interdisciplinary, featuring representatives not only from management and technology but also from cinema, animation, photography, fashion, journalism, and hospitality. This broad scope sets it apart from other institutions.
Recent developments, including industry collaborations and enhanced academic programs, have further enriched the IIC’s representation. With a focus on fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, AAFT continues to engage students and faculty member across departments through IIC activities such as workshops, master classes, and start-up events.
